Sony’s Spider-Man Universe continues with Venom: The Last Dance, the sequel to Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The fifth film of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, it is the third installment of the Venom series.

Venom shows Eddie Brock, the anti-hero Marvel Comics character with an alien that gives him super strength and other abilities, and sometimes bites people’s heads off. While there hasn’t been much detail on the storyline for Venom: The Last Dance, the title hints at the conclusion of Eddie’s relationship with the alien symbiote that keeps him alive.

Venom: The Last Dance Quick Facts

Release Date:25 October 2024
Runtime:TBA
Director:Kelly Marcel
Stars:Tom Hardy, Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Clark Backo, and Ivo Mando.

Venom Trilogy

The first film follows Eddie Brock, a flawed Marvel hero who, after losing his journalist job, seeks revenge on wealthy businessman Carlton Drake. Things take quite the turn when Eddie stumbles on an alien creature, Venom who needs a human host to survive.

Venom becomes his new teammate as the duo work together to stop Drake’s evil experiments. Later, Eddie visits a bad man in jail, Cletus Kasady and this further ruins his already hanging reputation after getting fired previously.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

With the events in the first Venom movie, Eddie stays in touch with Cletus Kasady as he shares stories about his crimes as Brock writes about them. Later on, Kasady tries to hurt Brock, unknown to him there’s Venom who protects him.

He digs around and finds out Brock’s secret, which leads to the release of a dangerous symbiote called Carnage. Kasady doesn’t stay on top for long as his past catches up with him when his first love, Frances teams up with him on his rampage. Detective Patrick Mulligan gets caught in the fight as Venom beats Carnage.

Venom: The Last Dance Cast

Tom Hardy, starring in over 70+ cinematic credits, reprises his role as Eddie Brock from the first two installations of Venom. Since he had delivered his role effortlessly in the first two movies, Hardy returns as the same Eddie Brock  who got fired for trying to set up a rich businessman.

He plays the host of an alien symbiote that gives him extraordinary powers and saves him from attacks. The English author and screenwriter has featured in movies like Capone and three of Christopher Nolan’s films: Inception, The Dark Knight Rises as Bane, and Dunkirk.

Starring alongside Hardy is British Academy Film Awards Recipient, Juno Temple, in an undisclosed role. Chiwetel Ejiofor with a British Academy Film Award as well and a Laurence Olivier Award, features in an undisclosed role as well. Other actors include Clark Backo and Ivo Nandi.

Caught up with other projects is Andy Serkis who directed Venom: Let There Be Carnage. He won’t be directing Venom 3 however, a worthy substitute emerged, Kelly Marcel. Marcel, who wrote the first two Venom movies, will be directing the third.

This would be her debut as a director. Due to her knowledge and understanding of the characters, she made for the perfect substitute and hopefully, it’s a star debut for her. Tom Hardy also co-wrote and co-produced the movie whilst working with Kelly.

Venom: The Last Dance Villain?

There are speculations that the Villain may be Lasher due to the merch given to the cast. The number “3” on the hat is green and there are three slashes, which might be a clue that the villain is a symbiote called Lasher.

In the comics, Lasher is a green symbiote that comes from Venom. It’s like a “child” of Venom, along with some other symbiotes called Agony, Phage, Riot, and Scream.

Venom: The Last Dance Plot & Trailer

Venom 3 remains a mystery as Sony keeps mum on plot details. Tom Hardy and Kelly Marcel’s collaboration hints at an MCU continuation. Given the title, it’s easy to speculate that Eddie and Venom’s journey might be reaching its natural end. However, there is no plot nor trailer for the movie so we can only guess.
