With its first debut in 1982 and second in 2010, Tron: Ares is dropping as the third chapter in the Tron franchise. Like its first, it is set on a highly sophisticated program sent into the digital world. Out of the digital world, Ares is sent into the real human world on a dangerous mission, which is bridging the first interaction between AI and humans.

Three decades after his debut role in My So-Called Life and a successful role in It’s the End of the World but It’s a Beautiful Day, Jared Leto adds to his records of success with his role in Tron: Ares.

It will be a follow-up to the 1982 Tron, written and directed by Steven Lisberger from a story by himself and Bonnie MacBird. Also from the 2010 Tron: Legacy directed by Joseph Kosinski from a screenplay by Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis.

The first Tron movie ever was released on 9 July, 1982. The film was a moderate success at the box office, receiving positive reviews for great visuals and criticism for an incoherent storyline. On the other end of the stick, Tron: Legacy, which can pass for Tron II, is the sequel to the original, helmed by Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner in their returning roles as Kevin Flynn and Alan Bradley, along with Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, James Frain, Beau Garrett, and Michael Sheen.

A name that has repeatedly popped up when it comes to all the different versions of Tron is Oscar-winner Jared Leto. Known for his very unique method of acting, which earned him multiple awards and nominations, Leto is back for award season as he stars in Tron: Ares. Despite being an Oscar Award winner, Jared has not been quite lucky when it comes to blockbusters. His roles in Suicide Squad and Morbius weren’t exactly beloved by fans. However, he moves on to his next role in Tron: Ares, which may be totally a different case.

Hawaii Film Critics Society Best Actress award recipient, Greta Lee, who had successfully delivered her role in past movies, also stars in Tron: Ares. She takes on the role of a video game programmer and tech company CEO who has to go MIA in order to protect her world-changing technology.

Golden Globe, Satellite Awards, Astra TV Awards, Critics Choice Super Awards, you name it, he has it. The serial killer from Dahmer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Evan Peters, is back baby! This time though, not as a serial killer. We aren’t quite sure of his role in Tron: Ares as it hasn’t been announced yet. But from his past successes like Mare of Easttown and American Horror Story, we’re expecting his best as always in the movie.

Due to little information in circulation about Tron: Ares, the casts and their assigned roles are difficult to come by. However, other faces that we’d see include Hulu series actor The Old Man, Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn, Teen Choice Award comedian Hasan Minhaj, and The Neon Demon’s Jodie Turner Smith.

Also, Broad City’s Arturo Castro and Teen Choice Award for Best Villain of Gotham, Cameron Monaghan, would both be making appearances. The two other confirmed cast members of the movie are First Lady’s Gillian Anderson and Sarah Desjardins from Netflix’s The Night Agent.

Tron: Ares Jared Leto

Subsequently, Jared Leto was spotted on the streets of Columbia on the set for the movie, Tron: Ares. Passersby have been spreading rumours that they spotted scenes being filmed for the new movie in Vancouver.

Given Leto’s track record of immersing himself fully into roles, we’re eager to see how he’d make Tron his own.
