Hit Man Plot
Hit Man tells the story of Gary Johnson, your average philosophy professor who spends all his time caring for his cats more than anything else. Kinda like that popular stereotype but in reverse, yeah. So with no room in his life for thrills or the tiniest possibility of a relationship, Gary ends up moonlighting as a hired assassin.
However, things take a complicated turn when his job leads him to Madison, who hires him for a sinister task. Their first meeting? Let’s just say sparks fly, and suddenly, things get a whole lot more complicated in Gary’s world.
Hit Man: A True Story?
The whole idea for Hit Man actually started with an article that was written by Richard Linklater’s buddy Skip Hollandsworth for the Texas Monthly back in 2001. The article explores how Johnson kept a low profile with his neighbors while working as a fake hitman in the police force.
Fast forward to the COVID-19 pandemic, the article is back in the spotlight and catches Linklater’s attention. So, naturally, he and Hollandsworth started chatting about turning it into a movie. With Glen Powell jumping on board, the dream became a reality.
Hit Man Release Date
The movie is set to hit Australian cinemas on 7 July 2024, and will also be available for streaming on Netflix.
